Can We Count You In?

Join us for Statistics in Schools (SIS) Week: Everyone Counts! from March 2-6. This weeklong series of activities aims to underscore the importance of responding to the 2020 Census and counting everyone in every home. You should participate in SIS Week because it is:

  1. Educational and fun. Students will learn about the 2020 Census and its value through activities such as creating a classroom diversity collage, drawing what they want to see in their community’s future, joining a Twitter chat with Census Bureau experts, and watching entertaining and interactive videos about the census.
  2. Easy. We’ll provide teacher guides and other resources for each day’s activities.
  3. Important. You’ll be promoting a complete count for the 2020 Census. That count will impact how federal funds are distributed for important programs and services in your school and community each year for the next 10 years. That includes funds for Head Start, special education, school lunch assistance, after-school programs, classroom technology, teacher training, and more.

SIS Week takes place just before the 2020 Census begins, so participation is also urgent, as is spreading the message about the census by giving students this take-home flyer, available in 13 languages. Now is the time to emphasize the importance of counting everyone in every home.
