Census Developers: Can You Help Your Community?

2020 Census Public Service Announcement Video

As a Census Developer, you may already realize the importance of the 2020 Census to the well-being of your neighborhood.

According to an internal study conducted by the Census Bureau, a majority of respondents did not think that their participation in the 2020 Census would benefit them personally. In the case of funding for public services in their community, respondents indicated a clear need for messaging that provides specific and concrete examples of how the 2020 Census benefits local communitiesnow and into the future.

Get Started

If you empathize with the mandate of the Census Bureau or if you benefit from having a single source of nation-wide statistics for your personal or professional use, please consider contributing to the cause.

You could create or contribute to data dissemination applications that show how Census data is applied or expose some insight into the US population that you believe exhibits the value of these data or tells a compelling story. There hasn't been a better time to do this in the last decade. Also, with the up coming 2020 communications campaign approaching, we may even help you promote your application if it aligns with the mission to get every household counted. An example of such a contribution can be seen here:

Your Community is Counting on You

As a developer/programmer, you have the power to reach thousands of people with a single web page. You know your local neighborhood best. And your contribution could mean the difference between families in your neighborhood getting more of the $675B in annual federal funding for schools, hospitals, fire departments, roads, bridges, and more. It could make a difference in the voting power of your congressional district.

This is an opportunity for developers to contribute to the benefit of the common good.
