State Population Estimates: July
1, 2015 — Internet tables and detailed
downloadable files will show July 1, 2015, population estimates for the nation,
states and Puerto Rico, as well as corresponding annual estimates and
components of change since the 2010 Census. (Scheduled for release Dec. 22.)
Estimates of State Voting-Age
Population: July 1, 2015 — Estimates of
the number of people 18 and older in each state, Puerto Rico and the U.S. The
downloadable file will also include total population and the percentage of
people 18 and older. (Scheduled for release Dec. 22.)
New Year’s Day Population — The Census Bureau will ring in the year with its annual
projection of the nation’s population for Jan. 1, 2016. The release will
include birth, death and net international migration rates, as well as a
projection of the world population. (Scheduled for release Dec. 30.)
Economic
2012 Economic Census,
Survey of Business Owners, Company Statistics Series: Company Summary — The
Survey of Business Owners provides a detailed portrait of America’s businesses
and business owners from the national to the local level once every five years.
This release includes revised data for number of firms, receipts, employment
and payroll by gender, ethnicity, race and veteran status at the U.S., state
and sector levels; and estimates at the detail geography (county, place, etc.)
and two-to-six digit NAICS levels. (Tentatively scheduled for release Dec. 15.)
Infographic:
A Look at the Mining Sector in the United States — A collection of three visualizations
presenting data from the 2012 Economic CensusGeographic
Area Serieson the leading mining
states. The graphs illustrate the states with more than 10,000 mining sector
employees, show how mining jobs in these states are distributed by subsector,
and compare the value of mining shipments in them before and after the Great
Recession. Among the mining subsectors are oil and gas extraction and support
activities. (Tentatively scheduled for release Dec. 17.)
2014 Annual Survey of
Manufactures: General Statistics, Value of Product Shipments, and Geographic
Area Series — The 2014 Annual Survey of Manufactures release includes
general statistics, value of products shipments, and geographic area statistics
for the years 2014, 2013, and 2012. The survey provides data about
manufacturing that are crucial to accurate estimates of domestic production and
productivity, and to making sound decisions on economic trade policies.
Companies, business analysts, and trade associations use this data in planning
investments, production, and marketing. (Tentatively scheduled for release Dec.
18.)
Quarterly Summary of State
and Local Government Tax Revenues Third Quarter 2015 — The summary provides quarterly estimates of state and
local government tax revenue at a national level, as well as detailed tax
revenue data for individual states. This report produces three tables: Tables 1
and 2 include income and sales data and Table 3 provides tax collections by
state. (Tentatively scheduled for release Dec. 22.)
Quarterly
Survey of Public Pensions Third Quarter 2015— The survey provides national
summary data on the revenues, expenditures and composition of assets of the largest
defined benefit public employee pension systems for state and local
governments. This report produces three tables: Tables 1 and 3 include data on
cash and security holdings and Table 2 provides data on earnings on
investments, contributions, and payments.(Tentatively scheduled for release Dec. 23.)
2014 Annual Survey of
Public Employment & Payroll — Provides a comprehensive
look at the employment of the nation’s state and local governments, as well as
the federal government. It shows the number of government civilian employees
and their gross payroll by governmental function. These governmental functions
include, for example, elementary and secondary education, and police
protection. (Tentatively scheduled for release late December.)
2012
Economic Census Geographic Area Series — Continuing on a flow basis, this
series provides detailed industry statistics by geographic area for
establishments of firms with paid employees. Data are shown on the 2012 North
American Industry Classification System basis. These data supersede the data
shown in the Industry Series and may be superseded by data shown in later
publication series for selected sectors. See: <http://www.census.gov/econ/census/schedule/>

2012
Economic Census Subject Series — Continuing
on a flow basis through June 2016, the subject seriesreports supplement other
products and present tabulations for the U.S. with some state detail. Reports
for most sectors include establishment and firm size (including legal form of organization).
Miscellaneous subjects reports for the manufacturing sector include general summary,
products summary, materials consumed summary and concentration ratios in manufacturing.
Facts for Features
Black History Month: February — To commemorate and celebrate the contributions to our nation made by
people of African descent, the Census Bureau presents a collection of
demographic and economic statistics about the black community. (Tentatively
scheduled for release in December.)
Valentine’s
Day — To celebrate
this holiday, the Census Bureau highlights a range of information including
statistics on chocolates, flowers, jewelry and marriage.(Tentatively scheduled for release in December.)

Census Bureau Offers Training
Opportunities — Webinars are available to help the public access and use Census Bureau
statistics. These free sessions, lasting 60 to 90 minutes, show how
to use census databases and mapping tools and how to find demographic and
economic statistics at a local or national level. They also provide quick links

Abowd Named to Lead Census Bureau Research and Methodology Directorate — Dec. 10— Cornell University professor John
M. Abowd will join the U.S. Census Bureau through an interagency personnel
agreement as the new associate director for research and methodology and chief
scientist, Census Bureau Director John H. Thompson announced today. The

American Community Survey
2010-2014 American Community Survey Statistics
Release — Dec. 3 — The American Community Survey five-year
statistics, based on data collected from 2010 to 2014, cover all geographic
areas regardless of size, down to the block-group level. For the first time,
users will be able to compare two nonoverlapping five-year periods (2005-2009
and 2010-2014). The
American Community Survey provides a wide range of important statistics about
people and housing for every community in the nation. The survey is the only
source of local statistics for most of the 40 topics it covers. It produces
statistics for language, education, commuting, employment, mortgage status and
rent, as well as income, poverty and health insurance. Internet address:

Demographic
Small Area Income and Poverty Estimates: 2014 —Dec. 9 — Available
for roughly 3,140 counties and nearly 14,000 school districts, these statistics
represent the only current, single-year income and poverty statistics available
for all counties and school districts. Data are provided on the
total number of people, as well as the number of school-age children, and

Management and Remediation Services — Dec. 11 — The 2012 Economic Census
concludes the Geographic Area Series for the administrative and support and
waste management and remediation sector. This series includes statistics for

collection, treatment and disposal. The files provide statistics on the number
of establishments, receipts, payroll, number of employees and other data items
by industry. Geographic Area Series data is the only series that provides this
data at a U.S.
summary level as well as an economic place level; other geographies

items by industry. Statistics are provided for the U.S,

10 Ways the American Community Survey Serves Communities —
Since 2005, the American Community Survey has provided annual data on more than
40 topics for our nation’s communities. Over the past 10 years, we have seen
the many ways local communities, businesses, policymakers and researchers use
these statistics to guide decisions that affect the daily lives of the American
people.
On the Road in New Mexico —Director John H. Thompson
visited New Mexico to participate in the Census Bureau’s fifth tribal
consultation meeting this year. These meetings are a key part of
preparations for the 2020 Census. Thompson said he is grateful to the All
Pueblo Council of Governors and the Pueblo of Isleta for hosting and to the
attendees who contributed to a thoughtful and productive discussion.
County-Level
Nutrition Assistance Program Data are a Collaboration Between Government
Agencies — The Census Bureau released the 2014 Small Area Income and
Poverty Estimates for all school districts, counties, and states on Dec. 9. These
estimates will be used to allocate federal funds to school districts for the
next school year. Also released today were some of the source data, including
the number of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program participants at the
county and state levels for most years between 1989 and 2013. Formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, SNAP is
a nutrition assistance program for low-income individuals and families
administered by the Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service.
