SHARE YOUR COMMUNICATION "WINS"

We need your help collecting examples of communications promising practices and strategies from OD2A-funded jurisdictions to include in the OD2A-TAC Resource Library. Examples of communication “wins” include: Creating webpages that disseminate public health information Materials from media awareness campaigns Utilizing the CDC Rx Awareness campaign or other CDC communications tools and materials Publications and articles that have been shared publicly Please note that materials and resources must be posted publicly to allow us to link to them from our website. Submit your communications strategies using the OD2A resource form by Friday, July 22.

• Changes in Opioid Dispensing by Medical Specialties After the Release of the 2016 CDC Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain. Highlights changes in opioid prescribing across a diverse array of medical specialties.
• Linking People with Opioid Use Disorder to Medication Treatment: A Technical Package of Policy, Programs, and Practices. Presents strategies that can help state, local, and tribal leaders and healthcare professionals link persons living with opioid use disorder (OUD) to evidence-based care.

• Innovations in Overdose Response: Strategies Implemented by Emergency Medical Services Providers. Report about innovative overdose response strategies involving EMS providers.

• FindHelpNow Curriculum Year 2. Shares a curriculum for states adopting the FindHelpNow national platform and those who elect to design an alternative web-based linkage to care model.

Recorded Webinars May 2022 DOSE Quarterly Meeting. Shares program updates including a summary of the new Cocaine Overdose Syndrome Definition and a presentation from the Utah Department of Health on their new syndrome definitions for methamphetamine use. OD2A Partner’s Portal Training Video: Evaluation Plan Task. Recording of the live Partner’s Portal systems training provided for OD2A recipients. The training specifically covers data entry into the Evaluation Plan module.

UPCOMING EVENTS

• July 18: Innovative Surveillance CoP: Linkage to Care Surveillance Workgroup Call. Provides a forum for peer discussion on cross-cutting topics, methods, and challenges/solutions across jurisdictions for one of the three focused innovative surveillance community of practice workgroups dedicated to local outbreak detection.
• July 19: Virtual OD2A Policy Convening. Brings together OD2A jurisdictions, public health attorneys, legislative liaisons, and other policy subject matter experts to discuss overdose policy issues and share content expertise.
• July 20: The SUD Patient Journey Map: Facilitators, Barriers, and Strategies for Success. Presenters from the Addiction Policy Forum (APF) will share an overview of the Patient Journey Map, which was developed through the input of patients in treatment and recovery from substance use disorder (SUD). Registration is forthcoming.
• July 21: Save the Date: Community for Harm Reduction – Blending Funding Sources to Support Harm Reduction. Save the date for this event. Registration, topic, and other information about this session are forthcoming.
• August 9–11: The National Resource Center for Academic Detailing’s (NaRCAD) 3-Day Intensive Academic Detailing Techniques Training. Teaches new clinical outreach educators, or Academic Detailers (ADs) how to effectively communicate best evidence and critical tools to front line clinicians prescribing opioids.

Peer Events

• July 14: New York: Optimizing Provider Use of Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs: Pain Management in Patients with Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). Covers the topic of pain management in patients with OUD, along with related guidance for patient care. This is the sixth webinar in the “Optimizing Provider Use of PDMPs” series.
• July 25: Michigan: Evaluators on the Front Line: Different Approaches to Evaluating Syringe Services Programs. Join the conversation about different approaches to evaluating comprehensive syringe services programs (SSPs).
• July 26: Washington: The Unique and Varied Role of Nurses in Caring for People with Opioid Use Disorder. Four nurses will share their perspectives of working in their communities to care for clients with opioid use disorder (OUD).
• August 3-4: Kansas: OD2A Stimulant Summit: In-Person Peer-to-Peer Learning Event. Network with OD2A stakeholders and learn about the impact of stimulants on overdose prevention efforts at this event being held in Kansas City, Missouri.
