Highlighting our Fellows!
Meet Cierra !
Cierra Stanko is the Wounded Warrior Fellow for Congressman Michael Burgess (TX-26). She assists with all military and veteran related concerns and corresponds with the Department of State and US Citizenship and Immigration Services for District 26.
Cierra joined the United States Marine Corps at the early age of 17 and left for recruit training the day she graduated high school in June 2012. In the Marine Corps, she served as an Administrative Clerk and after her reenlistment she became a Career Planner. Cierra was stationed at MCAS Miramar and Camp Lejeune when she was medically retired as a Sergeant. In between her military service and working for Congressman Burgess she was a private security agent in Ohio and a detention officer in Missouri. After moving to Texas, she joined the Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program in March of 2020. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Security Management and her Master’s Degree in Public Administration with a minor in Criminal Justice Administration.
Cierra has accepted a full-time position on Congressman Burgess staff as a Constituent Services Liaison once her Fellowship is complete in April.
“I think being able to hear a veterans’ story and say, “I understand” and truly know what they are going through, is what makes this job worth it. I lost my Dad, a United States Marine and my personal hero, at the beginning of this year and being in this position and helping Vietnam Veterans like my Dad has really helped me carry on his memory which I will forever be grateful for.”- Cierra Stanko
