AOC Congratulates Eric Swanson
The Architect of the Capitol is pleased to congratulate Eric Swanson on being selected as Acting Deputy Superintendent in the Senate Office Buildings Jurisdiction. Eric previously served as Assistant Superintendent of the Facilities Support Division in the Senate Jurisdiction (2014–2019 and 2020–2022); as Acting Deputy Superintendent in the Senate Jurisdiction (June 2019–November 2020); as a General Engineer with the Performance, Strategy and Innovation Division and the Business Transformation Division (2009–2014); and as a Safety Engineer in the Senate Jurisdiction (2001–2009), where he was instrumental in developing and implementing the Senate Safety Program.
With over 30 years of military service, Eric presently is a Lieutenant Colonel in the District of Columbia Army National Guard, serving as DA Operations Division Chief for the Multi-Agency Augmentation Command. He previously served as Director of Logistics (A5) at the Joint Force Headquarters and as Squadron Commander for the 113th Civil Engineer Squadron at Joint Base Andrews. He deployed in support of both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom and has received the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal.
Eric received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is currently enrolled in the Army’s Advanced Operations Course.
Eric lives in New Market, Maryland, and enjoys spending time with his family: his wife, Cindy; his daughter, Sophie, who is a high school senior; and his son, Christian, who is in seventh grade. Eric also enjoys coaching his son’s hockey team, playing hockey, hiking, woodworking, completing home improvements and building with LEGOs.
Eric really enjoys working at the AOC, because “there is always a new challenge every day that I get to tackle with amazing teammates, and being part of something that has national and international impact and supporting the Senate and Congress is an amazing honor.”
Please join the AOC in congratulating Eric Swanson on his new position!
