National Press Club Friday, April 12, 2013, 8:30-10:30 a.m. Co-hosted by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), PATH, and Save the Children Pneumonia and diarrhea are two of the leading causes of death for children under 5. They are responsible for nearly one-third of under-5 deaths. As the global health community aggressively pushes to holistically address child mortality under A Promise Renewed, the WHO/UNICEF Global Action Plan on Pneumonia and Diarrhea (GAPPD) looks to coordinate and integrate efforts around pneumonia and diarrhea. In addition, The Lancet is launching a series of four papers, all of which have informed the development of the GAPPD. During this event, authors of each paper will provide a brief synopsis, and there will be an overview of the GAPPD and how it fits into the efforts of A Promise Renewed. Seating is limited, RSVP now to reserve your spot.
