"A Two-Generation Approach to Addressing the Mental Health Needs of Children and Youth"
Date: December 17, 2024
Time: 2 p.m. ET
National concern for the mental health of children and youth, as well as that of their parents and caregivers, is growing at a time when our traditional system of clinically trained providers continues to shrink. We need solutions that directly equip parents and non-traditional community partners with mental wellness tools that are flexible and adaptable to community-specific needs.
Join us for a conversation with staff at Children’s Wisconsin, a children’s hospital system in Milwaukee with clinics statewide, who are collaborating with community support and behavioral health teams to build local mental wellness capacity.
"Ten Tips on Fostering Safety for LGBTQIA2S+ Youth in Foster Care"
Date: December 18, 2024
Time: 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. ET
The Child Welfare Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) Institute is holding a 90-minute webinar that will provide concrete tips for creating an authentic, safe space for youth and their families.
Societal stress and lack of supportive adults negatively impact mental health outcomes for LGBTGIA2S+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual and Two-Spirit) youth in the child welfare system. These contribute to increased rates of anxiety, depression and suicide risk. Child welfare professionals are uniquely positioned to facilitate family bonds and support healthy identities. These actionable skills provide a framework for important discussions about life experience and identity that will promote resilience.
