New Resources for Youth in Foster Care Transitioning to Adulthood
|
|
Youth in foster care face several challenges as they prepare for self-sufficiency and living on their own, and many struggle to achieve self-reliance. These youth may face unique obstacles and benefit from additional support.
Child Welfare Information Gateway has launched a full update on a resource collection to help caseworkers support youth transitioning to adulthood.
For the first time, this collection features resources specifically for youth! Developed in partnership with lived experience experts, the Resources for Youth Transitioning to Adulthood collection offers a comprehensive starting point for finding resources on education, employment, finances, housing, life skills, and more.
Caseworkers and others supporting youth in transition can find resources on programs, emerging practices, and support services as well as other information about extended foster care. Having the right resources in your collection will help youth get engaged and make transitioning out of foster care a smoother process.

Can you help spread the word? Child Welfare Information Gateway developed an outreach toolkit to help raise awareness about this collection.
This toolkit will make it easy to share these new resources with your networks and colleagues and the youth who need them. Inside you will find messaging for professional and youth audiences and shareable graphics. Access the toolkit today and connect youth to the resources they need to thrive!
