Reminder: U.S. Access Board to Hold Public Forum on Autonomous Vehicles (April 21)

The public is welcome to join the U.S. Access Board for a virtual meeting on inclusive design of autonomous vehicles on April 21 from 2:00 – 3:30 (ET). This event will continue discussion of communication accessibility in hailing and interacting with autonomous vehicles for passengers with hearing, visual, or cognitive disabilities. 

The program features presentations by Dr. Aaron Steinfeld of Carnegie Mellon University, Dr. Gregg Vanderheiden of University of Maryland, Darryl Cooper of Disability Rights Office at Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Ted Guild of World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), and Bruce Bailey of U.S. Access Board. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions or to share information or comments. Attendance is free, but registration is required. 

This is the fourth and final session in the series. The first three sessions on March 10 and 24 and April 7 are available on the Board's YouTube Channel and covered accessibility for passengers with mobility, hearing, visual, or cognitive disabilities. In addition to the virtual meetings, an online discussion platform is currently open to the public to share ideas and questions on designing AVs that are accessible to individuals with disabilities.
