 Win unique Ghost Merchants' ghost in Mischief Night trail!
Take part in our Mischief Night trail between Saturday 24 October and Sunday 1 November and you could win a unique York Ghost Merchants' ghost, created especially for York Mansion House.
The delicate hand-painted design of our prize ghost was inspired by the rich red flocked wallpaper in our elegant Drawing Room, where we will be hosting the Ghost Merchants' Black Box sale from Monday 26 October - Sunday 1 November.
Follow our ghostly Mischief Night trail around the house to help stop mischievous school boy Guy Fawkes causing havoc in 16th century York and solve all the puzzles in the trail booklet for a chance to win. There will also be a fun booklet for children (and anyone who prefers less taxing tasks) to win a small treat!
During the Mischief Trail we'll be offering 20% off admission to anyone with a ticket from the Bar Convent's new The Gunpower Plot exhibition or a guest house entry card. A receipt from us will get you 20% off entry to the exhibition which runs until 5 December.

York panorama on display
A beautiful pen-and-ink panorama of medieval York, drawn by architect Edwin Ridsdale Tate, will go back on display at York Mansion House on 24 October.
The 1914 drawing provides a bird’s eye view of how York would have looked in the 1400s. Its display coincides with our Mischief Night Trail, set a century later when Guy Fawkes was a boy in the 1500s, when York would have looked very similar.

New play for Ghost Week
Drama will come to our State Room when the spirits of York’s Margaret Clitherow and Guy Fawkes rise to share their stories in a new play written for Ghost Week 26 called Remember, Remember.
Accompanied by live period music, the play asks if Margaret’s trial and death was the inciting event that set the scene for one of the most explosive episodes in English history? Showing 29-31 October, 7.30pm.

Joyful Georgian festival attracts hundreds of visitors
We had a great time hosting this year's York Georgian Festival between 6 and 10 August which saw hundreds of visitors enjoying their trip back to the 18th Century!
The sun shone on the promenade through York from Clifford's Tower to the Mansion House, tourists and shoppers watched the dancing and military drills in St Helen's Square, and events were held across city venues including Fairfax House, Bar Convent and more.

Christmas cheese and wine
We're bringing back one of the most popular events of the festival for Christmas.
Emma Moore, aka The Wine Lady, will return to our State Room with a Christmas Georgian Cheese and Wine evening on Friday 13 November. There will be more tasting, an insight into the lavish dining habits of the 18th-century, and some timely tips for your own festive celebrations.

Christmas wreath making
Get ready for Christmas by making your own festive Georgian wreath in a special event in our State Room on 26 November.
York florist Sue Hunter MBE will take you through creating your own beautiful wreath to take home, using natural materials including seasonal foliage, pine cones, fresh moss and dried oranges. And enjoy some mulled wine and mince pies!

This November and December we're inviting you to take a break from the bustling shopping streets to enjoy a fascinating afternoon guided house tour followed by a Georgian cookery demonstration in our historic kitchen.
See the house beautifully decorated for Christmas and enjoy a cosy glass of non-alcoholic mulled wine and a mince pie.
