Welcome to your latest Open Door newsletter
In this edition, we look at how we're updating our approaches to tackling your priorities of damp and mould, and anti-social behaviour, and improving the area around your homes. Plus, why is Stephen involved in tenant panels, and are you getting all you're entitled to?
New action to address your priorities
We’re taking new approaches to address what you've told us are your top priorities: tackling ASB, damp and mould and the areas surrounding your homes. With input from tenants, our action includes a new Neighbourhood Improvement Programme to fund kit for community improvements and repairs, and to support areas including Walmgate and The Groves.

The way we tackle damp and mould is changing
You’ve told us that tackling damp and mould in your homes is one of the most important things about your home.
New laws have recently been passed about stopping damp and mould. Whether it stems from the water table or a leaky roof we’ve updated the way we do this work.

Magistrates ban visitors from tenant's home
We’ve just secured a court order at York Magistrates Court (right) to prevent anti-social visitors going to one of our homes.
If you are struggling with other people’s anti-social behaviour, with domestic abuse or hate crime, report it at the Open Housing Portal.

Stephen Scott has been on our tenant’s scrutiny panel for 13 years. “It's simple: I do it to help get the best out of our homes,” he said from his home in The Groves. “Getting involved is how you change things from the inside.”
Your voice and experience are key to help us get things right for you. To get involved and help make a difference to your home, call 01904 552097 or email Julie.hood@york.gov.uk.
