York’s new hub for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities and their families – SEND CENTRAL – has a host of events and drop-in sessions planned over the coming months.
Forthcoming sessions include how to support neurodivergent children during the festive period on Wednesday 3 December from 1-2pm. Drop into the hub at Clifton Children’s Centre for help and support with any SEND queries or visit https://www.yorksend.org/ to see a full timetable of events and activities.
There are also a wide range of sessions running throughout York Disability Week (29/11-6/12), including activities for disabled parents, exhibitions and inclusive and disability sporting events. Find out more at https://sites.google.com/view/iddpyork/home?authuser=0/

Rougier Route Survey goes live
Have your say on our new proposals to create the Rougier Route.
We want to make buses more reliable and more appealing, creating a healthier, better connected and more sustainable York.

York Walls in Bloom
As part of the York Walls in Bloom initiative the vibrant wildflowers across our historic walls will be cut back in the coming weeks, using traditional hand scythes and rakes.
Teams will be carefully monitoring the fading of the summer blooms, which will be composted after they're cut ahead of more wildflowers being resown in the spring.

 Courses for parents and carers
Being a parent is the most rewarding role that many of us will ever do. If you feel like you could do with a helping hand from time to time, there are lots of resources available locally and online.
Check out the wide range of online courses available from providers including Togetherness, for all age groups and specific needs.

Celebrating York's care leavers
To mark National Care Leavers' Month throughout November we're celebrating the positive impact young people leaving care have on communities across the city.

All York Ticket Survey
We’re asking families to share their views on local bus travel.
We want to understand how you get around and what would make family journeys easier.
The survey takes 3–6 minutes and is completely anonymous.
|
|
We’re creating a survey for parents to help us understand more about your experiences of services and support in York. Would you be willing to help us do this by sharing feedback on its content and ease of reading?
The next panel meeting is Tuesday 25 November (10am – 11:30am) in West Offices. Email fis@york.gov.uk if you would like to attend.

Sign up for perinatal wellbeing workshops
The Good Mental Health Project are offering free wellbeing workshops designed to help you support your mental health and wellbeing during pregnancy and the first 2 years of parenthood.
Sessions provide a safe and supportive space to share experiences, strengthen connections and explore ways to look after yourself or support those around you.

Have your say!
Want to share your opinions? Here's what we're asking about at the moment, and what the deadlines are for taking part.
One of the best ways to influence what happens in York is to get involved in our Talkabout citizen's panel, which happens twice a year.

Could you foster?
Fostering provides a safe home and more stable family life for our children and young people, when they need it the most.
There are many different types of fostering depending on the needs of the child or young person.
Anyone over the age of 21 years can be a foster carer.
