Supporting children and young people's mental health this October
Taking care of your own - and your child’s - mental health is as important as taking care of our physical health. World Mental Health Day this month (10/10) is a helpful reminder to us all of the importance of prioritising and investing in good mental health.
There are lots of places to go to get information, advice and support on emotional and mental health, both online and locally in York.
You can visit the Raise York website 24/7 to get access to support and information, including advice on managing anger, loneliness, bereavement, sadness or depression, low self esteem or worries and anxiety. It also contains information about where to go for help if someone is having a mental health crisis.

York celebrates Kinship Carers Week
This week we’re celebrating the amazing work of our Kinship carers.
This is when a child lives with a relative or a connected adult, instead of being placed into foster care. This can help to keep children within their familiar networks, providing them with stability and a sense of belonging.
