Welcome to your latest Families update
This week we're looking at the new Asthma-friendly schools initiative, suggesting different ways you can get involved in improving families services in York and much more.
York Asthma friendly schools initiative is launched
York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is calling on schools across York to join a new initiative named ‘Asthma Friendly Schools’.
This exciting new programme aims to support local schools in becoming 'Asthma Friendly', with the goal of improving the care of pupils with asthma and raising awareness of this common long-term medical condition through training, resources, and support.
Alex Oliver, Asthma Friendly School Nurse at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, explained: “Having asthma can impact a child’s schooling and learning, so it’s essential to begin the conversation about asthma care within school settings. We know that schools are when children are most likely to experience an asthma flare-up.”
