If you're planning to explore York's festive markets this year, why not go by bus?
Children travel for free if with an adult, or just £1 if under 19 and travelling alone, and adults can use the £2 fare cap. Extra buses are running over the festive period and we have a brand new web page dedicated to travel information and advice so why not make bus time, us time this winter.

It's cough season!
Coughs and colds are common, but it’s natural to worry when your child’s breathing is affected.
Thankfully, in most cases, self-care at home is all that’s needed.

Check if your waste and recycling collection days are changing over Christmas and New Year
Most waste and recycling collections in York will take place the day after their normal collection date over the festive period. However, to enable crews to take leave over the holiday season, there will be changes to some collection dates.
The most significant changes are collections due on Christmas Day (Wednesday 25 December), with household waste being collected earlier than normal on Saturday 21 December.
Recycling collections for households due a collection on Christmas Day will be Wednesday 11 December (before Christmas) and then Monday 8 January (after Christmas).
If you were due to have your recycling collected on Friday 27 December and Friday 3 January, it will be collected at kerbside on your next scheduled recycling collection days (i.e. 10 or 17 January).
Normal collection days will resume from Monday 6 January.
