The majority of collections in York, for both household waste and recycling will take place the day after their normal collection date.
However, to enable crews to take leave over the holiday season, there will be changes to some collection dates, as there will be staff shortages.
To minimise disruption as much as possible, crews will be working Saturdays to ensure household waste, for all 96,000 properties in York, continues over this period.
The most significant changes are collections due on Christmas Day (Wednesday 25 December), with household waste being collected earlier than normal on Saturday 21 December.
The last recycling collection for households due a collection on Christmas Day will be Wednesday 11 December (before Christmas) and then Monday 8 January (after Christmas). Additional recycling that is presented by these households will be collected on 8 January.
Please note that if you were due to have your recycling collected on Friday 27 December and Friday 3 January we collect additional recycling at kerbside on your next scheduled recycling collection days (i.e. 10 or 17 January).
Normal collection days will resume from Monday 6 January 2025
