This week we're sharing updates on new funding for a 24/7 mental health hub, the next steps for plans for Acomb Front Street and the council budget, our latest project to help fill skills gaps in the city, and multiple events including York Unlocked and York Jobs Fair.
 New 24/7 mental health hub for York
York's Mental Health Partnership has successfully secured more than £2.44 million to enhance mental health support for York residents.
The funding will be used to develop a new 24/7 hub open to local adults needing mental health support, with no need for a referral.

Building to fill the construction skills gap
Construction York, a new skills project, is being launched in York to reduce inequality, address the gap in construction skills and enable inclusive economic growth.
The project aims to help local residents take advantage of the opportunities, and access the training needed to meet employers' skills requirements.

Plans for Acomb Front Street to be considered
Next week (9 September) plans to improve Acomb Front Street will be discussed at a scrutiny meeting before a report will be taken to a decision session later in September.
The design ideas have been shaped by the community with proposals including more accessible pedestrian crossings, more seating and bins, new signage and more.

Don't miss out on Pension Credit
It's estimated that more than 400 households in York could be missing out on Pension Credit, which could be worth up to £2,677 per year.
Pension Credit is paid separately from your State Pension and can unlock other support including Housing Benefit and Council Tax Support.

York Jobs Fair returns
Later this month (17 September) the York Job Fair will be taking place from 11am to 2pm at the Railway Institute's Sports Centre.
More than 60 employers, training providers and job agencies will be attending, with opportunities for interviews and job offers on the day.

Water voles call York home
Following a collaboration between multiple partners, including City of York Council, St Nicks and the Environment Agency, water voles have been found in Hull Road Park.
The new inhabitants are thanks to the York Urban Becks project which aims to restore wildlife habitats in the city, and improve biodiversity on York's waterways.

York Unlocked returns
From 5 to 6 October more than 50 buildings, including Herbert House, Thin Ice Press, St Anthony's Gardens and many more, will be open to the public to explore for free.
Some sites will need to be booked in advance, and tickets will be released on 7 and 14 September, at 10am.
