 Changes to public sector procurement rules
Procurement rules are changing.
From October 2024, new rules will be introduced to make it easier for businesses to apply for public sector contracts by cutting red tape, increasing transparency and opening public sector procurement to more businesses.

The Small & Mighty Enterprise Programme
Small Business Britain is delivering a free six week programme including webinars, training, action plans and mentoring to give a boost to small businesses.
The programme to supercharge sole traders and micro businesses, concludes with a growth plan to support the next year of business opportunity.

Energy efficiency funding
Over £25m is being made available to help voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations in England improve their energy efficiency.
This part of the scheme opened in January 2024 and organisations can apply through three grant rounds, the last of which will close in August 2024.

Help bridge the digital divide
The IT ReUse project accept donations of IT equipment and share them to help people who can't access essential services.
Along with accepting donations of laptops, phones and other equipment, they are also looking for corporate partners to support their important work.

York BID has some exciting opportunities for local artists as part of their ongoing ambition to transform pockets of the city and celebrate stories from York through art.
Applications are open to take part in 'Outside the Box' and the 'Nutcracker Trail', projects that will repaint exchange boxes and install statues across the city later this year.

Celebrate business innovation

The awards celebrate outstanding achievements in business growth, leadership and innovation, and applications are now open.

One month to go to the Mayoral election
On Thursday 2 May, voters will decide who should become the new mayor for York and North Yorkshire, who will lead the new combined authority.
The deadline to register in time to vote in the mayoral election is April 16, and the deadline to register for a postal or proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday 17 April.
