Next phase of the regeneration of Worcester Street, Kidderminster underway
Following the successful site clearance of the shops on Worcester Street, the next phase of the regeneration of this area of Kidderminster town centre is now underway.
Birmingham based demolition company DSM have been awarded the contract to take down the former Woolworths, Megavalue, Poundland and Sigma Aquatics buildings. This will be a phased demolition which will start imminently and roll out over the next few months.
The demolition of the redundant retail units will make way for the construction of a completely new proposed attractive outdoor green space in the middle of town which will provide improved access, somewhere for people to sit, relax and meet up, and potentially a children’s play area.
These plans are at the design proposal stage, subject to Council approval and will be the subject of a series of public information events likely to be in August. Dates and arrangements are being discussed now and will be communicated on the Council’s website and social media channels.
For more information on the regeneration of Kidderminster visit the NWedR website.
