Your Council
Following the elections last month Wyre Forest District Council now has 20 Conservative, six Independent, four Labour, two Liberal Democrat, and one Green Party councillors. Read the full election results.

Did you know we are now webcasting our Cabinet meetings as well as Full Council and Planning Committee meetings? You can watch them from the comfort of your own home. Live streaming is available shortly before the meetings start at 6pm. The June dates are Cabinet: Tuesday 13 June 2023 and Planning: Tuesday 20 June 2023

Pride month
June is Pride Month. If you drive past our headquarters this month you will see the Pride Flag flying. We are committed to employing a diverse workforce and providing equitable services to our residents. We aim to fully meet our obligations and to learn from best practice. We are always striving to improve as an authority.

Flag flying ceremony
On Monday 19 June we are holding a special Flag Flying Ceremony at Bewdley Museum. The event is one of hundreds being organised across the country to mark the start of the celebrations for Armed Forces Day, which this year is on Saturday 24 June. Our Flag Flying Ceremony will start at 10am and everyone is invited to go along and show their support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces Community.

Are you food savvy?
Did you know that 35% of the contents of Worcestershire's black bins is food waste?
Of that, three quarters is avoidable, yet it still ends up in the bin! This could be meat, vegetables, fruit or bread being thrown away and wasting your money.

Bike Week
This week is the 100th annual Bike Week. From 5-11 June Cycling UK is encouraging us all to get on our bikes and celebrating the power of active travel for businesses. If you are getting out and about on your bike or looking for somewhere new to cycle, our ‘cycling in Wyre Forest webpage’ gives you links to routes, clubs, training and more.

Coronation round up
How did you celebrate the King’s Coronation? We hope you had fun despite the rain on Saturday 6 May. We gave out grants to 30 different organisations to help with celebrations to mark the event. You can read more about the events, parties and fun had by all on our Coronation Round-up webpage..

North Worcestershire Business Awards
Do you run or know a business which you feel should be celebrated? Nominate them for the North Worcestershire Business Awards. Entries must be for Wyre Forest, Bromsgrove or Redditch based businesses for the categories of best start-up business, outstanding contribution to the community, outstanding customer service, best use of technology.. For business leader of the year, business innovation of the year, stand out business of the year and best employer of the year awards the business can be based anywhere in Worcestershire. Entries close Monday 31 July. The winners are announced on Thursday 30 November.

Have your say on County Council changes
The Local Government Boundary Commission is reviewing division boundaries in Worcestershire County Council. They are working to draw up a new pattern of divisions that means councillors represent roughly the same number of voters and reflects local communities. This is your chance to have your say. The survey closes on Monday 24 July 2023.
