Are you registered?
Every year, we check the electoral register is up to date so that everyone who has the right to vote in upcoming elections can have their say. We’ve sent out letters or emails to all households, asking you to check your details. Please follow the instructions so you will be ready to vote in upcoming elections. We will have Wyre Forest District Council elections in May 2023 and elections for town and parish councils (apart from Kidderminster Town Council, whose elections will be in May 2024).

New wetland area
We are creating a new wetland area on a section of Riverside Meadows in Stourport. It is part of our plans to safely introduce more native wildlife into our reserves and open spaces. We are going to be seeding it with a mixture of native wetland wildflower seed in the autumn. It may take 12 months for the growth to start.

Free activities in our parks
We have been working with Kidderminster and District Youth Trust (KDYT) and Active Youth Outreach Services (AYOS) to put on free activities over the summer holidays. KDYT is visiting parks across the district with activities including tennis, board games, online gaming as well as their new inflatable ‘footpool’ table. AYOS is putting on activities for children aged 4+, they are free too but do need to be booked.
There are also free multi-sports sessions at Spennells playing fields. The sessions are for 11-16 year olds and are being delivered by Worcester Warriors Foundation. Join them on 4, 18, and 25 August and 1 September. Pop along for cricket, football, rugby, rounders and more!

Cardboard recycling
From your cereal box to your TV packaging, cardboard is one of the easiest items to recycle.
You can put cereal boxes, ready meal cardboard sleeves, cardboard egg boxes, kitchen and toilet rolls, toothpaste boxes, dishwasher tablet boxes and pet food boxes in your green recycling bin.
Please flatten all your boxes and put very large boxes by your green bin.
Two of the biggest problems we encounter at our recycling sorting plant occur because of cardboard – pizza boxes and polystyrene.
Please don't put pizza boxes in your green bin as they are covered in grease – put them in your black bin
Please don't put the polystyrene packaging from your big boxes in your green bin – put this in your black bin or take to your local Household Recycling Centre.

Children’s summer activities
Our children’s summer activities programme is running throughout the holidays until Friday 2 September. Children can have a go at all sorts of crafts. From creating a rainbow fairy door to making sloth hanging planters and seaside tote bags, there is an activity for all. Sessions run from 10.30am – 2.30pm, £6 per activity per child. No need to book. All children must be supervised by a parent or carer at all times.
