Share your views on the proposals for the Redditch Digital Manufacturing and Innovation Centre

NWedR, on behalf of Redditch Borough Council has commissioned SQW to assist with the proposed development of the Redditch Digital Manufacturing and Innovation Centre (DMIC).

The DMIC will be an £8m, c. 2,500 sq m development, and forms a key part of Redditch’s Town Investment Plan. The aim is to boost the supply of flexible workspace in the town centre and create a new focal point for innovation-led growth within the local advanced manufacturing sector. The project will also support digital skills and entrepreneurship development.

To inform the development of the DMIC, SQW would like to explore the scale and nature of demand that exists currently in Redditch, e.g., what ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ features should be offered as part of the scheme to best meet the changing needs of the local business base and have developed a survey to capture the views of local businesses. We are keen to get views from innovative and/or technology rich businesses on these important and exciting proposals for the area.

The survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete. All responses will be treated as confidential and in compliance with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirements. If you would like to share your views on the proposals, please click here to access the survey.

New bitesize events for SMEs in Greater Birmingham and Solihull

GBSLEP (Greater Birmingham & Solihull LEP have organised a series of bitesize events for local businesses over the summer.  Here is a summary:

This includes grants, loans and other sources of funding.

This event will give micro, small and medium sized business owners some new tools to plan and crisis-proof your livelihood and business. Having been through several unforeseen crises of late, this event will provide some tangible take-aways on how to plan ahead and what business support to tap into locally, that will enable your business to move forward.

Upon registration, all participants will be encouraged to put forward one product or service to offer to the wider audience – either for barter or sale - with a retail value circa £750.  (This is a suggested value, you are welcome to pitch an item with a higher or lower price point).

On the day, participants will be randomly placed in an online meeting room with other participants and given two minutes to “pitch” their selected product or service.  After several rounds of pitching, parties who are interested in meeting individually with companies they have either heard pitch, or they saw on the participant list and are interested in speaking to, will be put together for a meeting.

Event: Creative Tactics to boost sales in Manufacturing and Engineering

Tuesday 12 July  3-5pm

How does one manufacturer stand out from another?  What makes an OEM choose your parts or service?  This issue is particularly challenging for manufacturers and engineers where client confidentiality can prevent the use of product photos and in-situ demonstrations.  We’re bringing together some clever traditional creative and cutting-edge tech companies to work with manufacturers and engineers on how to address these challenges, raise their profile, and get those sales leads.

Regardless of the industry there is always a sweet spot in the customer journey that takes them from being a passive participant and prospect to a valuable client.  Is it possible to speed up that decision-making process? Join us for a conversation about what trends are on the horizon in this marketplace.

This online event will be followed by an in-person meet up for all attendees on 20 September 2022, more details provided on the day – get your place booked now:
