Former Magistrates' Court – public exhibition

Many thanks to everyone who visited the recent public exhibition at Coronation Gardens showing proposed plans for the Former Magistrates' Court in Kidderminster.

Despite torrential rain, residents and local business owners were able to see the plans currently submitted to the planning department at Wyre Forest District Council and discuss them with team at NWedR and architects Burrell Foley Fischer.

There will be another exhibition soon so that people unable to attend will have the opportunity to see and comment on the proposed plans. Feedback is being collated and will feed into plans for the transformation of the heritage building on Worcester Street being funded through the Future High Streets Fund.

Local Plan

We’re entering the final stages of the process to adopt a new Local Plan.

The Local Plan identifies where development sites for homes and business will be and the services and infrastructure needed to support them.

On Thursday (7 October) our Overview and Scrutiny Committee will consider a report which sets out the Main Modifications identified by the Planning Inspector. These are recommendations which the inspector feels necessary to make the Plan ‘sound’ and legally compliant.

Throughout the process of developing the Local Plan we’ve asked you to have your say. A further six weeks of consultation on the Main Modifications looks set to take place later in October. If the consultation is given the go ahead, you will be invited to submit your comments, but only in respect of the Main Modifications.

Council helps Kidderminster Foodbank

We’ve helped Kidderminster Foodbank move into a new home by giving it a £15,000 grant to cover its rent for the next 12 months.

The Foodbank provides emergency food and support to local people but had to stop after it was asked to leave its current premises, Baxter United Reformed Church, at short notice. There were  serious health and safety issues concerning an access route. These had been identified by us and the church trustees.

The Foodbank opened in September at 9 Blackwell Street, Kidderminster.
