Latest on Covid-19

Cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in all Worcestershire districts. The over 60s are being particularly affected at the moment.

The Government is introducing new national restrictions to help stop the spread of the virus. These will come into force across England on Thursday 5 November.

As part of the new national restrictions the Government requires leisure centre to close from Thursday (5 November). Announcements about the closure of Wyre Forest Leisure Centre will be made by Places Leisure. You can follow them on social media...

They have already announced when national lockdown begins they will freeze all membership and lesson payments.

The household waste recycling centres (tips) in the district are run by Worcestershire County Council. We understand these will continue to operate as they are at the moment.

Festive parking free after 3pm!

Parking in Wyre Forest District Council car parks will be free after 3pm during the festive period.

Residents should only make essential journeys due to the new national restrictions being introduced from Thursday 5 November to Wednesday 2 December.

Non-essential shops will be closed with food shops, supermarkets, garden centres and certain other retailers providing essential goods and services remaining open.

The Christmas parking offer is running from Friday 20 November to Sunday 3 January 2021.

Grab your tickets for first Lottery draw

The first Wyre Forest Community Lottery draw takes place at the end of the month. Tickets are on sale now for the first weekly draw taking place on Saturday 28 November. Tickets are only £1 per week, with 60% going to help local good causes. The weekly jackpot is £25,000 plus other prizes and one lucky player in the first draw will also win a fabulous Fitbit Charge 4! Follow the lottery's dedicated Facebook page for lots of information about the weekly draws, prizes and results.

Online showcase of services for older people

Our annual showcase event highlighting services for older residents in our community, is taking place online this week.

We have a dedicated page on our website showcasing lots of local organisations supporting older people. We are also sending out daily emails on different themes throughout the week - so if you would like to know more, subscribe today! Click on the link and choose Health, Wellbeing and Environment. Update on garden waste service

Are you a garden waste customer? If so it's time to get your garden ready for winter to take advantage of the final collections of the year. If your garden waste bin gets emptied the same week as your recycling bin, your last collection will be on the week beginning Monday 23 November. If your garden waste bin gets emptied the same week as your rubbish bin, your last collection will be on the week beginning Monday 30 November.

Dates for hearings into Local Plan announced

Public hearings into Wyre Forest District Council’s Submitted Local Plan will be held early next year.

Ms Mary Travers, the Planning Inspector appointed to undertake the examination of Wyre Forest District Council’s Submitted Local Plan will hold the virtual public hearings from Monday 11 January on selected days and they are expected to continue into early February.

The Local Plan identifies where development sites for homes and business will be and the services and infrastructure needed to support them. Click on the link for further information.

Bewdley Museum

Future of Bewdley Museum

Plans have been outlined to establish Bewdley museum as a fully independent trust.

Wyre Forest District Council is considering the move in an effort to secure the future of the award winning attraction. The plans include transferring the town’s Guildhall and QEII Gardens to the new trust.

if the recommendations are agreed we will be advertising in 2021 for people with relevant skills who are interested in serving as trustees.

The proposals are being discussed at a meeting of the Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee on Thursday 5 November at 6pm.

Have your say!

Your views are important to us and we have numerous public consultations in the pipeline.

Our current consultation on polling arrangements in Habberley ends this Friday (6 November), so if you live in in the Blakebrook & Habberley South and Franche & Habberley North wards of Kidderminster please take this opportunity to comment on future polling arrangements.

We will also be launching the annual budget consultation as well as a survey on the future of Kidderminster town centre this month, so please keep an eye on our consultation webpage.
