Big Energy Switch

Our Big Energy Switch is back.

This is your chance to see if you could reduce your energy bills by swapping your supplier.  We have teamed with iChoosr to run another collective energy switching scheme.

It is hassle free and we aim to get you a great deal from energy suppliers by using group buying power. People who took park last time saved on average £130 a year.

You need to register by Monday 10 February and within a few weeks you will receive a personalised offer.  It’s entirely up to you whether to switch.

Registration opens tomorrow (Tuesday 4 December).

Brinton Park

Our project to restore Brinton Park for future generations has taken another big step forward.

During the summer we were at events in the park displaying our proposed designs, including plans for a cafe and the renovation of the Sons of Rest Pavilion. It is part of our application to the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Parks for People grant programme for £2.4 million pounds.

The project is to help conserve the park’s historic and natural heritage and fund new and improved facilities. The Lottery has already given us funding to develop our plans so we can submit our final application in February.  The designs can be seen on our website and there will a chance to comment on them later this year.

Budget consultation

Thanks to everyone who completed our budget survey last month.

More than 600 people completed the survey to tell us how they would like us to approach our budget dilemma.

Like many other councils we are in a difficult situation. Government funding has fallen from £8.4m to £4.3m in Wyre Forest since 2009-10 and this means are unable to continue doing everything we currently do.

Feedback from the public will now shape our budget for 2020-21 which will be decided by full council in February.

WhiteRibbon

Wear a white ribbon

Please wear a White Ribbon and show your support for the annual campaign highlighting all forms of domestic abuse.

The campaign is being coordinated locally by Safer Wyre Forest and Wyre Forest District Council.

It launched on Monday 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and runs until Tuesday 10 December, International Human Rights Day.
