NWedR is part of the Midlands UK contingent at MIPIM, the world’s leading property market event being held this week in France. This year, there are 69 commercial partners supporting local authorities, LEP representatives and University leaders, all working hard to promote the Midlands as a world class investment destination and place to do business. More than 4,700 visitors are anticipated in the Midlands UK Pavilion over the 4 day event.

Shopping on Bromsgrove high street is now even more accessible!

Bromsgrove District Council has funded the use of an app which will help shoppers and visitors to the town, who are profoundly deaf, access services more easily. In partnership with Alvechurch based Sign Solutions, the Council is funding the special pilot for retailers and businesses to access on demand British Sign Language Interpretation services, via an app, for a 12 month trial

Businesses in Worcestershire are invited to a free, interactive event to help them identify and protect against the latest cyber security threats.  The morning event, held at Chateau Impney in Droitwich on 29 March, will offer practical tips and advice from technology and security experts, on preventing and dealing with cyber-crime.

Nominations are now open for the 2019 Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards.  This year, the categories include Employer Categories – Small Medium and Large, Apprentice – Intermediate, Advanced and Higher, School of the Year, Careers Lead of the year (new category), Training Provider, Apprentice Champion (revised category).  If you are a previous winner you can still enter and you can nominate yourself.

Wyre Forest Pledge to support Apprenticeships

To celebrate National Apprenticeships Week earlier this month, Wyre Forest apprenticeships had a further boost thanks to an initiative led by the Chairman of ReWyre, local business leader, Neil Morris with Kidderminster College and Wyre Forest District Council. The partnership scheme – The ‘ReWyre Apprenticeship Pledge’ encourages employers in the district to increase the uptake of apprenticeships, raise skill levels and tackle unemployment.

Redditch residents and visitors were invited to share their opinions of the Town Centre last week at two consultation events. The events provided a chance for people to give their views on a number of topics including the proposed redevelopment of the town centre, the potential for a services hub, changes to the railway station and the future of the Town Hall building and the surrounding area. BetaDen is recruiting its second cohort

BetaDen, Worcestershire’s first dynamic and ground-breaking commercial tech accelerator is now recruiting for Cohort 2.0, a unique programme dedicated to entrepreneurs and technology businesses in developing new concepts and product solutions co-located with the region’s 5G Testbed project team. The unique package Cohort 2.0 members will be offered includes their own office space at the BetaDen Hub at Malvern Hills Science Park as part of the three-day per week programme, and access to a comprehensive range of support.

Businesses urged to get involved in park restoration

Wyre Forest District Council is asking firms to complete a short survey to help with its project to restore Brinton Park in Kidderminster. The council has received initial support from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to plan a restoration project at Brinton Park and a full funding application will be submitted in February 2020. The project aims to reinstate heritage features and improve the use and enjoyment of the park through new facilities including an extended and refurbished community pavilion which will be suitable for a range of activities, events and conferences. The survey closes tomorrow (Friday 15 March) so please take a few minutes now to complete the questionnaire.
