Latest Ofsted news and updates here.
We are currently experiencing intermittent IT issues across West Sussex County Council services. This is affecting some of our websites and our customer service centre phonelines. While phone lines remain open, you may notice longer wait times than usual.
At times, the automated message may quote very long wait times, such as up to 300 minutes. These times may not reflect the actual wait and can be caused by IT interruptions affecting staff availability at that moment.
Our Family Information Service (FIS) Specialist Team also has limited access to some background systems. This may reduce our ability to respond to more complex queries in full. However, we will continue to support you as far as possible and provide the best information we can.
To help manage demand, please only contact us by phone if your query is urgent. You can still contact us by email using the relevant details on our . We hope normal service will resume as soon as possible. We will provide an update when normal service resumes via a special newsletter. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
We would like to offer our congratulations to the Church Lane Nursery team for becoming the Silver Winners of the Early Years Team of the Year in the Pearsons National Teaching Awards.
You can read more about their award here. We are pleased that you have been acknowledged for all you do each day to create an inclusive, nurturing environment for children in your setting.

Early education providers and schools can access a free supervised toothbrushing scheme for children aged 3 to 5 years old.
The fully funded programme provides each child with a toothbrush and toothpaste each term, along with hygienic storage racks, and take-home packs twice a year.
As part of the scheme, children are encouraged to brush their own teeth daily as a group activity within your setting, staff are not required to brush children’s teeth for them. Supervised toothbrushing is intended to be a supportive, enjoyable child-led activity. You can watch a short video of the scheme in action on Youtube.
The aim of the scheme is to build positive oral health habits, especially for children who may not regularly brush their teeth at home.

Childhood vaccinations play a vital role in protecting children from serious illness. There are 6 routine vaccination appointments in total – 3 before a child turns one and 3 after.
You can support families by sharing clear, consistent messages and reminding them when vaccinations are due. Please encourage parents and carers to check the vaccination schedule and find out more on the West Sussex County Council Childhood Immunisations web page.
