In January 2026 West Sussex Library Service is changing over to a new library system, including our website, catalogue and app.
Just like now, you’ll be able to browse, reserve, renew books and more.
We’ll send you more information about the changes in the new year. However, we wanted to give you advance notice of some disruption to our normal library service in January:
Temporary Library Closures
We are planning for all West Sussex libraries to be closed on Monday 19, Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 January to enable staff to change over to the new system. All libraries will re-open at their normal times on Thursday 22 January.
Reservations
All book reservations will be paused from Monday 12 January until Thursday 22 January.
Current Library App and Website
These will be unavailable from the end of the day on Friday 16 January. We'll let you know nearer the time when and how to access the new app and website.
Book Wish Lists
If you use the book wish list function on the current website or app, please note these will not transfer to the new system. Make sure you save a copy by emailing, printing, or downloading from the app or website before Friday 16 January.
Thank you in advance for your patience while we change to the new system. We apologise that there will have to be a few days of disruption to our normal library service and we are working hard to keep this to a minimum.
We’ll be sending out reminders about these changes and lots of information about the new library website, catalogue and app in the new year. Information is also available on our website.
If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact your local library or email us at county.libraries@westsussex.gov.uk.
