Over the coming months, Haywards Heath Library will be temporarily closed or open with limited service whilst refurbishment and maintenance takes place.
Essential works will be taking place at Haywards Heath Library to redecorate and refurbish our non-fiction area, study spaces and provide a new help point for customers. The investment in this new look and layout comes from developer contributions known as Section 106 payments.
We appreciate that these measures will disrupt your use of the library, and we ask you to bear with us during this period of works. We will do our very best to offer as much of our service as is safely possible.
To ensure that this project can be undertaken as quickly, safely and efficiently as possible the works will be staggered to minimise the disruption to customers.
Phase 1
Haywards Heath Library will be completely closed, with no service available from Monday 29 September to Monday 13 October 2025.
Phase 2
The library will be open with a limited service offer from Tuesday 14 October to late November 2025 during regular opening hours.
- Customers will be able to collect reserved items and drop-off returned books during opening hours. Our out of hours book return facility will not be available for the whole duration of the essential works from the 29 September until December 2025.
- Fiction stock will be available for browsing, and there will be a limited number of children’s stock and non-fiction stock also available.
- There will be no public computer, printing or photocopying facilities available.
- There will be no access to customer toilets.
- Please be aware that some of our regular activities including Rhyme Time and Storytime will take place at the Town Hall (more information further down).
Phase 3
Haywards Heath Library will be completely closed, with no service available from late November to December 2025.
The secondary closure and full re-opening dates will be confirmed at a later time.
Reopening
