Home Library Direct Volunteers.
Debbie has 2 customers and David has 3.
How long have you been a volunteer?
Debbie 3 years and David 15 months.
What library do you volunteer at and how often?
Selsey library and we deliver and collect books approximately every 2 to 3 weeks to each of our customers.
Why did you decide to become a volunteer?
We had both given up full time work and were looking for volunteer roles as we both had more time on our hands. We both read a lot and wanted to help people who can’t get to the library to access the libraries services.
What do you enjoy most about the role?
Meeting new people and discussing books with them.
What would you say to someone who is considering a volunteer role?
Give it a go! It is very rewarding and the library staff are very helpful with choosing and ordering books.
Do you have any hobbies or other interests?
David has 2 other volunteering roles helping with the local Food Bank and Sporting Memories (a charity which uses sport to help people with Alzheimer’s, depression and loneliness). He also runs. We both play green and short-mat bowls at a local club. Debbie does line dancing and aqua aerobics.
