Welcome to our September newsletter, containing all the latest news and updates across West Sussex.

We are proud to announce that we've been awarded Level 1 Capability status by Active Travel England (ATE) in recognition of our progress made over the last year to improve active travel in the county.
This means we will now be able to bid for future funding to deliver on our ambition to provide more accessible and safer walking and cycling routes.
In March 2024, we secured ATE funding of just over £1 million, which we’re already using to provide:
- a segregated cycle track on Lancing Beach Green
- a signalised crossing outside West Worthing Station
- upgraded signalised crossing in Felpham to accommodate cyclists as well as pedestrians
- a pedestrian crossing on the A286 at Lavant to make it safer to access local bus stops.
If you live in Arun or Worthing you can have your say on proposals for new electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints on 15 streets throughout the area by taking part in our consultation which runs until on 2 October.
The latest proposals form part of our plans to help create a sustainable and resilient future by ensuring residents have access to chargepoints, particularly those without on-road parking.
We are seeking residents’ views on the following roads:
Worthing:
- Salisbury Road, BN11 1RD - Browning Road, BN11 4NR
- The Strand, BN12 6NS - Marine Parade, BN11 3FN
- Berkeley Square, BN11 5AF - South Farm Road, BN14 7AX
- Milton Street, BN11 3NE - Drake Avenue, BN12 6ER
- Becket Road, BN14 7ET - Brunswick Road, BN11 3NG
- The Causeway, BN12 6FA
Arun:
- Elm Place, BN16 3BL - South Terrace, BN17 5NZ
- Anson Road, PO21 3LN - Upper Bognor Road, PO22 7AN
This latest phase of proposals forms part of the broader West Sussex Chargepoint Network, a partnership between West Sussex County Council, our district and borough partners and Connected Kerb.
To date, 253 dual-socket electric vehicle chargepoints have been installed on the roadside and in district and borough car parks across West Sussex, with hundreds more planned for the coming years.
Recycling Centres across West Sussex will switch to autumn and winter opening hours from Tuesday 1 October 2024 through to Monday 31 March 2025.
