On 21 June, we opened a consultation on how we pay Early Years Funded Entitlement (EYFE) in West Sussex. While participating in this consultation is not mandatory, we ask all providers of EYFE in West Sussex to share their perspectives on three possible options for receiving EYFE funding:
-
Option one - two payments per term: One Estimate payment and one Actuals payment per term.
-
Option two - monthly payments: Multiple payments based on a single Estimate submission, and one Actuals payment per term.
-
Option three - three payments per term: Two payments based on a single Estimate submission, and one Actuals payment.
So far, we have received responses from 13.5% of you. It is vital that as many providers as possible have their say so that we may consider the full impact of these options if implemented, including what benefits and challenges each would present.
To help you with your response, this initial consultation includes:
- a briefing document detailing the three proposed options in more detail,
- a Payment Schedules Modelling tool, which allows you to input an estimate of your typical yearly EYFE claims to see how this would be paid via each proposed option, and
- a survey, seeking your feedback on each of the options and an opportunity to express an interest to participate in focus groups or a pilot group.
These can be found on our EYFE Payment Consultation YourVoice page.
The survey is not a vote for each proposal. Your perspectives will help us better understand how changes to payment timings may impact EYFE providers across the county, and influence and shape any changes to payment options. This initial consultation will not determine payment options moving forward, as we anticipate needing to consult with you further.
We have tried to keep the survey as short as possible but encourage you to fully consider all proposed options and provide as much information as you can on the impact these would have on your provision (both good and bad).
The survey is still open but will close at 11.55pm on Friday 2 August 2024. Participation is not mandatory but is encouraged. We will share the outcome of the consultation with you in September 2024. A further consultation is planned to take place in October 2024.
We appreciate your time and effort and thank you for your participation.
