The early years and childcare training and support programme, which is currently based on the Learning and Development Gateway, will be moving to West Sussex Services for Education (WSSfE).
WSSfE currently hosts training and events for schools and maintained nurseries. This is now being made available to all registered early years and childcare providers in West Sussex. WSSfE is designed to enable managers to control bookings, view future and historic training and manage staff accounts. All training courses and networks running from 1 September 2024 will only be available to book on WSSfE, but some eLearning course will still be available to book on the Learning and Development Gateway. We believe the move to WSSfE will result in a streamlined reservation system. Managers will have greater access to their setting training, resulting in less emails and quicker adjustments to bookings and staff accounts.
Benefits of moving to WSSfE for providers:
- Booking and payments are all within one system and refunds do not have to be requested by email separately.
- Managers can easily create and end staff accounts, book and pay for staff training and substitute delegates. Individuals can also create their own account and link it to their setting.
- Providers will have access to courses from other West Sussex services, such as the Fire Service and the Manual Handling team.
- Wraparound care providers will have access to training for school aged children.
- Individual staff and managers can view future bookings and learning history.
- Course evaluations are emailed out through the system and, once complete, the certificate is immediately available to download.
What happens next?
- To support the change to the new training programme, we will clone user accounts from the Learning and Development Gateway and move them to WSSfE. Providers will be able to book future training using the new system from mid-July.
What happens to Learning and Development Gateway accounts?
- Accounts will remain active for the next 12 months. If accounts are not accessed within the 12 month period, they will be archived. If you need to book training or eLearning offered on the Learning and Development Gateway accounts can be reinstated.
- Free early years and childcare eLearning courses will remain on the Learning and Development Gateway as these currently cannot be hosted on WSSfE
What do I need to do now?
- If you do not wish your account to be cloned and moved to WSSfE, please email early.years.training@westsussex.gov.uk before 10 July 2024.
- In the next two weeks, we ask you to please review your staff accounts. If staff are leaving, please email learninganddevelopment@westsussex.gov.uk with their name, current setting name and their new setting name (if known). The Learning and Development team will remove them from your setting account and link them to their new setting account (if known).
What do I need to do in the next 12 months?
- Learning and Development Gateway accounts that remain unused will be archived, so please download any certificates of attendance you need for your records.
