Thursday 30 November 2023
The Department for Education (DfE) have published their response to the funding consultation. This was published alongside the local authority funding rates for 2024/2025 and the 2024/2025 early years funding operational guidance, which can both be accessed on the GOV.UK webpage. Local authorities received this information on Wednesday 29 November 2023, at the same time it was released to the public. We are now digesting the information and what this will mean in practice. Further information will be shared in due course.
In the meantime, we have put together a timeline of events for what the next steps are, including when we can confirm what the hourly rates will be for 2024/2025 in West Sussex. This will be following the Schools Forum on 18 January 2024.
Note: as per usual, the rates which have been published today are the amounts paid to the local authority and these will not be the hourly rates you will receive as your base rate. This is because the published rates includes all the elements of the funding:
- inclusion funding,
- deprivation funding, and
- the centrally retained funding.
The timeline includes a further explanation of this, including a YouTube video.
The DfE have produced an 'easy explainer' which outlines how Early Years funding rates are calculated.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) leader networks in the Spring term will focus on the childcare expansion, so please book on to these events via the Learning and Development Gateway. You can search for the course using the key phrase "EYFS Leaders" and booking on to the relevant date and location.
