PUBLISHED: New learning resources

We have recently published a number of new learning resources to support your understanding of adult safeguarding, and to develop your safeguarding practice. Details of these new resources can be found below.

To support your Continual Professional Development (CPD) we have created a CPD Reflective Log (Word) for your use. Please feel free to use this to track, and reflect on, the professional development that you complete using our resources.

UPDATED: What is Safeguarding resources

We have updated our resources providing an introduction to safeguarding, the types of abuse, and how to refer any safeguarding concerns:

NEW: Policy and Procedure learning resources

Policies and procedures are an essential part of any organisation. Together, policies and procedures provide a road map for day-to-day operations. They ensure compliance with laws and regulations, give guidance for decision-making, and help practice to be consistent.

NEW: The Difference Between Quality and Safeguarding

Our Kingswood Organisational Learning Review told us that learning across agencies is needed regarding the difference between quality and safeguarding concerns.

Please refer to the following resources for support with understanding the difference between quality and safeguarding, and how to respond to each of these concerns:

NEW: Complex Case File Audit Outcomes

We have now published the outcome of our complex case audit which we carried out in 2022 to 2023. This audit looked at the records of ten people who had been referred to our Multi-Agency Risk Management subgroup, also known as MARM. The audit looked to evaluate and reflect on practice, learn from experience, inform multi-agency practice development, and strengthen multi-agency working.

Multi-Agency Risk Management (MARM) subgroup referrer feedback

Our MARM subgroup helps with adults who remain at high risk despite previous intervention efforts by discussing on a multi-agency level, to consider any/all other options possible to reduce or remove risk.

We are sharing some positive feedback from a referrer who brought their case to the MARM subgroup for advice and support.

The referrer said “this was my first time presenting to MARM. It is reassuring to know that I can trust the process in future, and that the best outcome was achieved for the Adult.”

A professional on the MARM panel said “I have witnessed first-hand the benefit of having representatives from different agencies to offer the referrer with either assurance that they are doing all they can, or to offer suggestions and next steps, using knowledge and experience to help achieve the best outcomes for the adult.”

If you have a challenging case which you feel would benefit from multi-agency input, please visit our website for more information about the MARM subgroup and how to make a referral.
