The Locked Room: An evening with Elly Griffiths
 Thursday 16 June 2022, 7.00pm at Chichester Cathedral.
We're delighted to announce that we're partnering with Chichester Cathedral to welcome best-selling crime-writer Elly Griffiths as part of this year's Festival of Chichester.
Elly Griffiths will talk about the latest book in the Dr Ruth Galloway series, The Locked Room, and about her novels set in West Sussex.
We are pleased to offer this event both in-person and online.
You will be able to purchase copies of Elly's books when attending the event at Chichester Cathedral.

The Big Jubilee Read
The booklist for the Big Jubilee Read has been announced! The campaign celebrates writing from across the Commonwealth by sharing 70 great reads from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s 70-year reign. With ten books for each of the last seven decades, the initiative will use the proven power of reading to unite the public around the shared stories that define our social and cultural heritage.
A special customer newsletter will be coming out in mid May where we will share our Jubilee related activities.
Was Chichester a city of culture in 1962?
 Book now for an illustrated talk by archivist Nichola Court which explores the city’s social and cultural landscape prior to the opening of Chichester Festival Theatre in 1962. The talk will be held at West Sussex Record Office, 3 Orchard Street, Chichester PO19 1DD on Tuesday 31 May at 7.00pm.

Horsham District Mystery Trails
 Libraries in the Horsham District are taking part in Whistlestop Arts’ Mystery Trails.
If you like outdoor adventures or solving puzzles, you will love these Mystery Trails.
They are a set of free, outdoor escape room-style games in seven towns/villages within the district: Horsham, Southwater, Billingshurst, Pulborough, Storrington, Henfield and Steyning. There is one trail per town/village.
Suitable for anyone aged eight and above, you can play them as a family, with friends, or use them as a team-building exercise. Visit one of the libraries in the Horsham District to collect your Mystery Trail map and folder.

Special heritage event : Sussex and America
On Saturday 11 June, West Sussex Record Office will be hosting the Transatlantic Ties symposium, a day of lectures and presentations exploring the shared history of West Sussex and the United States. Speakers will include Emily Sneff, who collaborated on research around the ‘Sussex Declaration’ held in Chichester, and novelist Francis Spufford, who will be giving a reading from his novel Golden Hill, set in 18th century New York.
The free event will take place at the University of Chichester’s Bishop Otter campus from 10.00am to 4.30pm and includes refreshments.
