Spring into libraries this Easter!
Spring is finally here and school holidays are on the horizon! Are you looking for a fun, free activity to bring your little ones to? Look no further than a library near you…
Join us for stories and crafts at our Spring into Libraries events this month. Please note that spaces are limited and booking is therefore essential for these activities.
If you can’t make it, don’t forget that our Regular Activities for Children continue to run throughout the school holidays, including Rhyme Time, Toddler Time and Storytime!
Wellbeing Month
We had a busy Wellbeing Month in libraries in March with book displays, drop-ins, special storytimes, a new online reminiscence session and more! Our grand finale is a short What helps your wellbeing video showing the various things that help our staff’s wellbeing.
Enjoy cats, cake, crafts, plants, dogs, water, sunrises, sunsets and more!

Sorry folks but fines are back from April
Our overdue, reservation and hire charges are returning from Friday 1 April 2022 and we know that some of you still have library books and other items that you took out ages ago. We’d love to recover as many of these as possible so please have a look on bookshelves, under sofas and anywhere that books might be hiding!
There are many free services available, such as reservations on in-stock children’s, audio, DVDs and non-fiction books, with no daily charges on children’s items. Also, don’t forget that eBooks, eMagazines and eNewspapers remain free to reserve and borrow, with no overdue charges.
To avoid future overdue charges do sign up for library email alerts which remind you when items are due back. You can also manage your loans by downloading the Library App.
Old Worthing Library
It’s hard to imagine a time when there wasn’t a public library in Worthing. An important part of the town’s history came to light recently, as descibed by reporter Elaine Hammond in her article 21 Reasons Why Worthing Should Have a Public Library.
She describes the recent donation of a framed copy of an 1892 poster, which brings to life the pre-history of the library, from the initial campaign all the way up to our new Community Hub. Here is proof, if it were needed, that free library services for all are as relevant today, as they were 130 years ago.
For a full version of the poster just click on the image above. Or why not pop along to Worthing Library? There's a reproduction of the poster hanging just outside the entrance to the 1st floor!
