Libraries Week (4 - 10 October) is a fantastic opportunity to support your local library. Did you know that you can reserve and borrow up to 20 items for free?
You can even download books, audiobooks, magazines, newspapers and comics from the eLibrary, including many titles to support your mental health from the Reading Well collection.

At the end of the week, we’ll be marking World Mental Health Day – an important campaign for us in libraries. Have you seen our dedicated Wellbeing web page? We regularly add new resources for all ages to this page, like the Usborne Unworry Pack.
Join us in celebrating libraries and mental health!

If you’re struggling to set up an NHS login, download your COVID Pass, order repeat prescriptions or book GP appointments online, we can help.
The NHS App is one of many things our fabulous digital volunteers can assist with at the following libraries during October:
Bognor Regis, Crawley, East Grinstead, Horsham, Rustington, Shoreham-by-Sea, Steyning and Witterings. All libraries are COVID-secure and special equipment will be in place to enable social distancing during your face-to-face session.
If you’re unable to visit in person, we can help over the phone too! Just call our Digital Support helpline on 0330 222 3455.

October is Black History Month, and this year we’re inviting you to try a new read from our Black Stories Matter booklists for adults, children and teenagers. They’re full of novels, memoirs and informative titles which encourage us to dig deeper, look closer and think bigger.
We’ve also put together a new collection of eBooks and eAudiobooks, free to download from the eLibrary.
Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter, as throughout the month we’ll be sharing recommendations of books and online events which give voice to Black stories and experience. There’s even more for you to explore on the official Black History Month website.

Digital inclusion is the theme of this year’s International Day for Older Persons (today – Friday 1 October!)
Older people here in West Sussex have said they like to keep happy, healthy and independent by going to clubs, meeting people and doing exercise. If that’s you, find out which regular activities are back up and running at your local library, or you can check West Sussex Wellbeing to see what else is happening in the area.
On the other hand, if you’d like some help with the online world, contact our Remote Digital Support Service or maybe book one of the face-to-face sessions mentioned earlier. Whether it’s in person or online, we’re here for you!

Last year we saw how much appetite there is for poetry in West Sussex, with the #haiflu project capturing pandemic experiences through the medium of haikus.
Although we're unable to host A Celebration of Poetry this year due to conservation work at Chichester Library, we’re thrilled that the event will still go ahead at the Novium Museum.
Celebrations continue with a Poetry Workshop at Worthing Library on Friday 8 October 2.30pm – 4.30pm. Reserve your free place now!
Why not take a break and browse the latest poetry collections for different age groups? Thanks to National Poetry Day for the recommendations.
