Space Chase: the final countdown!

The Reading Agency and Libraries present Space Chase Summer Reading Challenge 2019

Coming in to land - have you completed Space Chase yet?

Certificate and medal

Wow, what a summer! We’ve been hugely busy rocketing across West Sussex, and it’s not over yet!

Space Chase doesn't end until Saturday 14 September, so don’t panic - there's still time for children to finish reading their six books and collect a Space Chase medal and certificate.

If you'd like to give some feedback about this year's challenge, simply fill out one of our comments forms when you collect your final rewards. We’d love to hear your success stories this summer. You can also email your local library or tag us on Twitter @WSCCLibraries.

We love our volunteers!

Staff and volunteer at Worthing library

This year the Summer Reading Challenge has been supported by hundreds of enthusiastic volunteers in our libraries, some as young as 14. They have enjoyed listening to your children talk about their books and handing out rewards.

Our volunteers gain valuable experience through interaction with families; building new skills and improving their confidence.

We are incredibly grateful for their commitment, time and patience, and we hope you have enjoyed talking to them! We will be hosting special celebration events for our volunteers once the challenge is over, to say a very big "thank you" for all of their hard work.

We’ve had fun with a range of activities in our libraries over the summer. Did you blast off into space? Or perhaps you entertained Aliens in Underpants? Or did you join in with some micro:bit junk modelling?

Tweet us your photos @WSCCLibraries.

Did you know, we hold activities in the school holidays and special events throughout the year in a number of libraries? Bookmark this page to see what’s coming up, or ask a member of staff at your local library to update your email preferences if you don't already receive our monthly library eNewsletter.

Libraries for Learning

For the month of September, we will be celebrating all things learning.

The children’s section at your local library is a treasure trove of books to help your bright young things learn about the world. We've also got textbooks to help with school projects and a whole range of relevant titles for teenagers.

Reservations for adult non-fiction books are free too!

You’ll find free, quality information within our online reference library, where you can also download eBooks, eMagazines, eAudiobooks and eNewspapers with your library card.
