 CWA Dagger in the Library
Does your reading group enjoy reading crime
fiction? Shadowing prizes? Having a real say on which author should win awards?
Then this award is perfect for your group!
The Dagger in the Library is a prize for
a body of work by a crime writer that users of libraries particularly admire.
It is one of the most prestigious crime writing awards in the UK and previous
winners include Elly Griffiths,
Christopher Fowler, Alexander McCall Smith and Lindsey Davis.
The
CWA revised the 2017 Dagger in the
Library format so that, uniquely among crime writing awards, only library
staff were able to nominate authors. Nominations were received from 175 libraries
across the UK (including West Sussex Library Service). The Dagger in the Library is intended to promote crime fiction in
general and this is a great opportunity for a reading group like yours to have
a real influence. Your feedback will be a major factor in the judges’ decision
as to who should proceed to the shortlist and the eventual winner.
If
your reading group would to take part by reading one of the Longlisted titles with a view to leaving feedback on
the Reading Groups website then
please email Jane Blackwell with your
preferred reading choice by Tuesday 16 May. Requests will be satisfied on a first come first
served basis and will be issued to your group ticket for the usual loan period.
Group
feedback can be left on the www.readinggroups.org website.

Read and Review for the chance to win tickets
Author Lisa Hilton (Glamour Magazine's 'Writer of the Year'
2016) will be visiting Chichester Library on Tuesday 27 June to talk about her
new book ‘Domina’. We’ll be asking, how erotic is erotic fiction and does it
really get our pulses racing?
For the chance to win tickets for your reading group we
would like you to read and review her first psychological thriller Maestra,
published in 2016 to huge critical acclaim and due to be made in to a Hollywood
film, with the screenplay written by Erin Cressida Wilson (Girl on the Train).
Please email your reviews to Rebecca Robertson by
Tuesday 16 May and we will include our favourites and announce the winner in
the next newsletter!
