1. Early Years Census 2017- mandatory return (FE providers)
A reminder that the Early Years Census form is available
for you to complete via the Online
Provider Portal (OPP).
As you may know, every year we carry out the Early Years Census for the Department
for Education (DfE). This is a mandatory return. The Census is important
because it is used to calculate the funding West Sussex County Council
receives for free early education. If we do not capture your claims now, we
may not have the funding later on. Headcount day is 19 January 2017.
We need to collect
child-level and setting level information from you to submit to the DfE. The child-level
information will be collected, like we do every term, via your actuals. Please
make sure that you have entered all funded children for the 2017 Spring term on
the portal, and completed the census fields for all these children.
Please refer to this attachment for further
information and guidance.
The deadline for
return of your Early Years Census Form is 26 January 2017. Future FE payments may be at risk
if you do not complete your Census return by this deadline.

2. Free Entitlement Spring term actuals reminder (FE providers)
A reminder that the Online Provider Portal (OPP) is open for Spring Term Free Entitlement (FE) actuals claims.
Important – Please ensure you complete the Ethnicity field on the ’Child Details’ tab for each child as this information is required as part of the Early Years Census mandatory return. Please do not use ‘unknown’. It is important to read this attached information and follow the ‘Actuals and EYPP’ help-guide available here before submitting any information.
Headcount day: Thursday 19 January 2017
Deadline for return of your FE actuals data: Thursday 26 January 2017

3. Updating staff via the Provider Portal
Please remember if you
are updating your staff details or adding new staff, to include their contact
details. We have received a number of records with no information, which means
we cannot hold them on our system.
We use the address,
telephone number and email to send course confirmations and notify of emergency
course changes. Remember, two emails can be added; the practitioner’s personal
email and the setting email, enabling both to receive course information.
Finally, a date of birth is used so we can differentiate between practitioners
with similar names.
