If last week felt unusually hot, the local weather data tells the same story.
Temperatures measured at the Reading University Atmospheric Observatory broke several local records.
In the 24 hours to 10am on Friday 26 June, the temperature did not fall below 21.3°C, making it the highest ever overnight minimum recorded there.
The observatory also recorded its highest ever June maximum temperature, reaching 34.9°C on Wednesday 24 June.
As temperatures cool, it is a good reminder to think about how we keep homes, workplaces and communities safe and comfortable during warmer summers.

Lakes, rivers and other open water can look inviting in warm weather, but they can be dangerous, even for confident swimmers.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service will be at Dinton Activity Centre on Saturday 11 July, from 10am to 12.30pm, sharing water safety advice with visitors.
Open water can be dangerous even in warm weather, with risks including cold water shock, sudden changes in depth and hidden objects.
Visitors are reminded not to swim in lakes unless they are taking part in an authorised, organised session where safety measures are in place.
If you get into difficulty, remember Float to Live: float on your back and call for help.
If someone else is in difficulty, call 999 and ask for the fire service and ambulance.

Electric vehicle and e-bike event at Elms Field
Thinking about switching to an electric vehicle or e-bike?
Our free rEVolution electric vehicle and e-bike event takes place at Elms Field (RG40 2FJ) in Wokingham on Saturday 4 July, from 10am to 2pm.
Visitors can see a wide range of electric vehicles, speak to dealers and suppliers, test ride e-bikes and get advice on charging options, incentives and maintenance. The Energy Saving Trust will also be there to share guidance on energy saving and lower-carbon travel.
There will also be an electric bus from Reading Buses, information about our electric cargo bike hire scheme, free bike security marking with Thames Valley Police, free Dr Bike maintenance checks and a family EV and e-bike trail.
The event is open to everyone and there is no need to book in advance. Dr Bike maintenance checks must be booked separately.
Dinton Pastures’ living willow caterpillar has been restored and now needs a name.
Help us name Dinton’s living willow caterpillar
A new resident has appeared at Dinton Pastures, and it needs a name.
The living willow caterpillar in the nature play area has been carefully shaped, woven and restored by our rangers, volunteers and local students. It even has its own googly eyes.
Residents of all ages are invited to suggest a name, with the chance to win a family boat hire activity at Dinton Activity Centre, a visit to meet our rangers, a photo with the caterpillar and a unique handmade willow tree to take home.
Entries are open throughout July, before a shortlist is created for a public vote later this summer.
Entries close Friday 31 July.
