 SEND reforms engagement session for families
SEND Voices Wokingham is holding an online Zoom session for parents and carers to discuss and gather feedback on the proposed SEND reforms.
The session will provide information to help you understand the proposed changes. Your feedback will play an important role in shaping SEND Voices Wokingham's response to the consultation.

 Explore post-16 options at our SEND event
Come along to our free market stall event to support with preparing for adulthood.
The event will bring together a range of information stalls and local support services, to support young people with additional needs to explore options for after Year 11.

 Togetherness: free online family wellbeing support
Togetherness is an online learning platform, newly licensed for families in Wokingham Borough.
It offers NHS‑informed support for emotional wellbeing, including:
- antenatal and postnatal support
- understanding your child from toddler to teenager
- support with adolescence, adult mental health and relationships
There is also tailored support for families of children with additional needs, including:
- understanding your child with additional needs
- moving up to secondary school for children with additional needs
The courses are free to use and can be done in your own time.

 New group for children with physical disabilities
Local charity Building for the Future have a new Saturday Club at their accessible play centre, Our House.
The group is a dedicated space for children with physical disabilities to play and make friends, while parents and carers can connect with each other.
Upcoming sessions include:
- Saturday 16 May
- Saturday 20 June
Drop-in and stay as long as you like between 11am and 1pm.

 Celebrating 20 years of Explorers Extreme
This year marks an important milestone for Explorers Extreme, Wokingham Borough Council's youth group for 14 to 25 year olds with additional needs.
Over the past two decades, the group has supported around 150 young people through weekly sessions, residential trips, accredited learning and opportunities to try new experiences.

 Autism strategy: One year on
In April 2025, the Wokingham Autism Partnership launched the All-Age Autism Strategy - created together with autistic residents and families’ and stakeholders.
A new video looks back on the first year of this five-year plan. This is just the beginning of a long-term journey.
The video offers a glimpse behind the scenes at some of the work being done across six priority areas.
Resident involvement and personal experiences continue to shape the projects. The partnership is committed to improving experiences and outcomes for neurodivergent residents across Wokingham Borough and is continuing to build on this momentum.
The strategy is jointly owned by Wokingham Borough Council, Thames Valley Integrated Care Board, Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, SEND Voices Wokingham, Promise Inclusion, ASD Family Help, Autism Berkshire and CLASP.
 Inclusive sports festival in May half term
Sport Together Berkshire are a group of local sports clubs who work together to put on inclusive sports festivals during the school holidays.
The next festival includes boccia, cricket, football, new age curling, basketball and more.
It is designed to give children and adults an opportunity to have a go at adapted and inclusive sports, led by trained sports coaches.

 SEND coffee mornings and SENDIASS drop-ins
SENDIASS offers free, impartial advice to families.
They offer drop-ins every two weeks:
- 10.30am to 12.30pm
- At the Wokingham Youth Centre
SEND Voices Wokingham will be there to offer a cup of tea or coffee, a chat and an opportunity to connect with other families.
