During the pre-election period, before May’s local elections in the borough, there are restrictions on council communications. This means your consultation newsletter will look a little different and focus on essential updates only. Our usual format will return from Wednesday 20 May.

 Making our roads safer
We want to improve road safety in the borough and are asking you to tell us where you think speed limits should be lowered.
Our aim is to proactively introduce safer speed limits, particularly in places where pedestrians, cyclists and children may be at risk.
It's your last opportunity to tell us which roads and areas you think should be prioritised and why. Your suggestions will each be assessed before a first list of priority locations is identified.
Submit your suggested roads or areas until Friday 1 May.
Helping children have the Best Start in life
We want it to be easier for young families to find the support they need in the borough, when they need it.
We’re relaunching our children’s centres as Best Start Family Hubs and we want you to tell us what services and support they should offer residents.
Your views will help our Family Hubs meet the needs of young families, from pregnancy right through to children and young people aged 19 (or 25 for those with special educational needs and disabilities).
Research has shown that children are healthier and do better in school, if they have the right support.
Have your say until Sunday 3 May.

Have your say on proposed village’s design
We want to hear what you think of a design code which has been drafted for the proposed Loddon Valley Garden Village.
This is not asking for views on whether the site should be developed, but about how it could look and feel if it is built.
A design code is a set of clear rules for an area which help decide the layout of streets and neighbourhoods, where green spaces go and how residents move around, for example.
You can have your say on the code until 11 May.
Sonning Neighbourhood Plan – new consultation
There has been an update to the Sonning Neighbourhood Development Plan and a new consultation is now taking place.
Following our initial consultation on the draft neighbourhood plan in February and March, an independent examiner has been appointed.
Due to new national legislation that came into force on 25 March 2026, the examiner has requested that the plan’s Basic Conditions Statement is updated and that residents’ views are invited on it until 5pm next Wednesday (29 April).
This new consultation is not an opportunity to further comment on the neighbourhood plan itself.
You can email your comments on the updated statement to policyandplans@wokingham.gov.uk or post them to: Planning Policy and Infrastructure Team, Wokingham Borough Council, Shute End, Wokingham RG40 1BN.

Woodley road users – give your views
We’re inviting views from regular road users in Woodley on proposed parking restrictions, which have been introduced on a trial basis.
The double yellow lines introduced along Woodlands Avenue are between Lytham Road and Roslyn Road. They support the new cycle lane linking Woodley town centre and Palmer Park in Reading.
We want to know what people who use Woodlands Avenue think about them. The restrictions mean there is no waiting or loading at any time along the north side of this section of the cycle lane and no waiting at any time along the south side.
You can give your views until 2 October.
Other chances to have your say
The Department for Transport would like to hear your views on whether learner drivers should complete a minimum learning period, before being allowed to take their practical driving test.
The government wants to reduce the number of car drivers aged 17 to 24 involved each year in fatal collisions. It’s considering whether learner drivers need to gain more experience before taking their driving test.
Give your views until 11 May.
