Road reopens following reconstruction work
We're pleased to say that Heathlands Road was able to reopen on Saturday (21 February).
This means we've now moved into a new phase of work at the junction with Easthampstead Road. Three-way temporary traffic lights will be in place until Friday 6 March.
We'd hoped to open Heathlands Road sooner, but our initial timeline was disrupted by the heavy and persistent rain, which made it unsafe to re-lay the road surface.
Our contractors at Balfour Beatty worked quickly to identify an alternative and testing was carried out last week to ensure this could be done safely and allow the road to reopen.
Our plans to improve the junction of Waterloo Road, Old Wokingham Road and Peacock Lane in Wokingham have been approved. We will share more details on this project when a timeline is confirmed.

Looking ahead to future phases of work
During the current phase of the project at the junction of Easthampstead Road and Heathlands Road, we will be putting in new kerbs and doing verge works.
When this is completed, the junction will be fully open between 7 and 12 March, with no work being carried out and no traffic management.
This is because we will be waiting for the roundabout project at the junction of Molly Millars Lane and Finchampstead Road to move to its final phase.
Finchampstead Road will be open from 13 March, but there will still be about two weeks of overnight closures (8pm to 6am) on the roundabout for the final surfacing.
Between 13 and 16 March, Easthampstead Road will be closed for Openreach works. Again, this has been timed to coincide with the daytime opening of Finchampstead Road.
Once the Openreach works are completed, we will then move into the full closure of the junction of Easthampstead Road and Heathlands Road until 10 April to reconstruct the carriageway.
From 13 April, Easthampstead Road will be closed for ten months between Star Lane and Heathlands Road. The road layout will be permanently changed, with part of Easthampstead Road being closed off to form a cul-de-sac.
Easthampstead Road will be closing for one night, starting at 8pm on Tuesday 3 March through to 6am on Wednesday 4 March. This is to allow SSEN to carry out overhead line diversionary works. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
