Closures and diversions to look after the roads
We're carrying out works across the borough next week, which could affect your journey. There'll be road closures with diversions for defect repairs:
There'll be a closure for resurfacing, road marking and kerbing:
There'll also be temporary lights at the following locations:
IMPORTANT UPDATE: Thames Water have postponed their closure of Bearwood Road in Barkham until Monday 16 February due to rain. These works are urgently needed to replace pipes that are struggling with heavy demand.
Keeping you moving at the toughest time of year
In autumn and winter, with freezing conditions and heavy rainfall, cracks and other damage to the roads can quickly develop into potholes.
This is an annual challenge, and so far we've repaired about 1,050 potholes in the current financial year - to date, about the same as any other year.
We inspect our highways continuously, but we can't cover the 500 miles in our network and find every defect as soon as it appears.
The best way to report a pothole or any other issue is on our website, or by phone if there's a serious and immediate danger.
Our proactive maintenance programme is focused on treatments that seal the roads, which is the most cost-effective way to stop potholes forming.
Read more about types of road damage and how we're likely to address them.
We'll always do whatever's needed to meet our legal duty to keep you safe while you're travelling, but not all road defects are an immediate risk.
There'll be overnight closures for drainage and surveys on the westbound M4 from Winnersh to Three Mile Cross (Junction 10 to 11) next week, plus overnight closures for resurfacing at Junction 6 near Slough and Windsor. You can check the National Highways website for more.
Keeping an eye on junction after incidents
We know some people are worried about safety at the former war memorial junction in Finchampstead, so we're working to address that.
We've set up cameras and traffic counters at the junction of The Ridges and Jubilee Road to gather detailed information about vehicle movements.
We're going to repaint centre and give way lines, "slow" markings and red surfacing, and cut back vegetation, to make clear who has priority and improve visibility.
This site has a history of incidents and near-misses, but police data shows most have been caused by driver error including excess speeds.
However, we're doing what we can to reduce the risk of mistakes and working with Finchampstead Parish Council to make bigger changes in the long term.
This will take time as it's more costly and disruptive so we want to get it right. We hope to finish relining and vegetation clearance by the end of this month.
Remember your stopping distance will be longer when it's rainy, so watch your speed and drive carefully. You don't have to stop at a "give way" line, but it's an option if your view is restricted.
Help us make buses better for everyone
We're reviewing the borough’s bus network and want your views on the services that receive our funding, which must be focused where it's most needed.
We want to know which routes you use, what you think of them and how they could be improved. We're also asking your views on a few proposed new routes.
Your feedback will help us understand whether current services meet your needs.
Buses play a vital role in how people travel around the borough. We're working in partnership with operators, and with Government funding, to improve them.
In 2024/25 there were just over 2.6 million bus journeys on more than 20 routes, with the number of journeys increasing year on year since the pandemic.
Take the survey to have your say before 20 March.

Bright new look for bustling borough station
Twyford station has been upgraded to make it more welcoming for passengers.
The revamp by Great Western Railway includes a bright new open-plan ticket desk, more comfortable modern seating and a retail unit in the main building.
Ticket machines have also been moved indoors for better security and shelter from bad weather, and staff facilities have also been spruced up.
The station serves more than 1.7 million passenger journeys a year on both GWR services and Transport for London's Elizabeth Line.
Last year we helped make it more accessible by widening the pavement on the approach to the platform lifts off Hurst Road, using developer funding.
The latest works, supported by Network Rail and shaped by input from Twyford Parish Council and others, are part of GWR's wider investment in its network.
Help make our railway stations more welcoming
We're working with Southeast Communities Rail Partnership to seek business support for projects that make railway stations more welcoming and inclusive.
This could include artwork installations, community events, accessibility improvements or a makeover of the surrounding area.
We've had some recent successes with art projects at Winnersh Triangle and Wokingham stations and want to follow that. Drop us an email to find out more.
Pupils at our primary schools could win prizes in our My Journey Wokingham team's active travel bingo competition - enter by Sunday 22 February.
