All you need to know about new active travel route
We're starting work on a new walking and cycling route from Woodley town centre to Palmer Park, in Reading, next Monday (26 January).
We’ve shared a detailed overview of what it’ll look like, and how we’re building it, in our latest Moving Around the Borough newsletter.
Construction will take place in phases and is expected to take much of the year, with the Woodlands Avenue sections due for completion in the summer.
This will require road closures with diversions and our partners at VolkerHighways will try to work quickly but may be delayed by factors like the weather.
Further works on Church Road, Palmerstone Road and Culver Lane will begin this summer and finish in the winter, with detailed timeframes to be confirmed.
We’ve also agreed to introduce a 20mph speed limit on several sections.
Resident thrilled with £2,000 community lottery win
One lucky player of the Wokingham Borough Community Lottery has started the year with a big win. Camille, from Reading scooped the £2,000 earlier this month.
She said: "I was absolutely thrilled and honestly couldn’t believe it when I found out I’d won. It was such a lovely surprise and a real moment of excitement for our family.”
She plans to spend the money on a trip to New York to celebrate her daughter's 16th birthday and the completion of her GCSEs in June.
Tickets for the lottery cost just £1, and 50p from every ticket goes directly to your chosen good cause.
Camille added: “I chose to support Home-Start as I was previously a volunteer and have seen first-hand the incredible difference they make to families who need extra support. The work they do is so important, and it means a lot to me to be able to support a charity that genuinely changes lives."
To take part in the Wokingham Borough Community Lottery you must be 18 or over. For more information about gambling, please visit Gamble Aware.

Help guide our new engagement strategy
We’re committed to putting residents at the heart of our decision-making so that, together, we can create a thriving Wokingham Borough.
An important part of that is creating a strategy that sets out how we’ll work with you to shape decisions.
We’d like you to tell us what you think of a draft of that strategy, which we've now completed.
We consulted with you on its guiding principles in October and November and more than 1,150 of you took part online and in-person.
We have two ways for you to have your say:
Let us know what you think before 4 February.
