Vehicle access to be restored under railway bridge
Later this month, we will be moving to a new phase on our roundabout upgrade at the junction of Finchampstead Road and Molly Millars Lane.
We expect the next phase of work will start on Monday 26 January, which will see the closure point move to the south of the junction, between Molly Millars Lane and Tangley Drive.
On the weekend of 24 and 25 January, there will be some overnight work to establish the new phase.
With vehicle movement to be restored under the railway bridge, the next phase will run until mid-March. Pedestrian access will be maintained, with some footpath diversions.
After that is completed, the roundabout will then be open to traffic in all directions, but there will be about two weeks of overnight closures (8pm to 5am) to carry out the final surfacing and road marking and other elements required to complete the junction.
Borough Mayor puts on walking boots for charity
Wokingham Borough Mayor, Cllr Carol Jewell, is lacing up her walking boots to raise money for her chosen charity, Building for the Future.
She will be walking the 55 miles of Wokingham Way, making her way around the outskirts of the borough.
Cllr Jewell kicked off the fundraiser in November and has since covered the 23.5 miles from Earley to Shurlock.
She will continue fundraising this month, picking the walk back up where she left off, before finishing it at Building for the Future’s hub in Thames Valley Park on 23 January.
Building for the Future provides support for children and young people with disabilities. It is a parent-led charity offering activities, support and therapies in a welcoming and innovative environment.
Proposal for memberships at Dinton Activity Centre
Dinton Pastures Country Park are exploring introducing a flexible membership scheme at Dinton Activity Centre and want to hear your thoughts.
The scheme would allow adults, young people, children and families to access facilities, programmes, events and tuition for a simple monthly fee.
There would be no joining fees and no long-term contracts.
Help name borough's new waste vehicles
We’re inviting you to get creative and help name our brand-new fleet of waste collection lorries and street cleaning vehicles, arriving this summer.
Across the UK, similar competitions have produced favourites like Bin Diesel and Sweep Caroline, and now it’s your turn to come up with something equally memorable.
If your suggestion wins, you’ll receive a prize from Biffa, our new waste collection and street cleansing contractor. Schools with pupils who submit winning names will also get a special visit from the newly named vehicle later in the year.
Help shape support for kinship families
Are you a kinship carer, a child in kinship care or a professional supporting these families?
This happens when a child lives with someone they know, such as a grandparent, aunt, uncle or close family friend, because their parents cannot care for them.
We’re creating a local offer to make sure kinship families in Wokingham Borough have clear, accessible support – and we want your help to shape it.
We want to hear from those with lived experience or who work directly with kinship carers. Your feedback will help us design an offer that truly meets local needs.
Please take a few minutes to complete our survey and help shape the future of kinship care in the borough.
