Recycle your Christmas tree, support a good cause
Your real Christmas tree can do more than decorate your home.
Sue Ryder’s volunteers will collect it from your doorstep and recycle it into woodchips for biomass fuel or organic mulch for gardens and ecosystem restoration.
They don’t make money from recycling - your optional donation helps ensure no one faces death or grief alone. Book your doorstep collection by 4 January.
Waste collections will happen on different days to normal during the festive period so crews can rest and be with their families on bank holidays. Check our Christmas waste and recycling guide for more details.

Pop-up shop success as you gave items a second life
You helped raise hundreds for Thames Valley Air Ambulance at the re3 Recycling Reuse Pop-Up Shop in Finchampstead last weekend.
Thank you for coming along, picking up pre-loved items such as garden furniture, books, games and children's toys. Your choices support a vital local charity and reduce waste across the borough.
We’re also grateful to re3, Citizens Advice Wokingham and Finchampstead Baptist Centre for making this event possible.
When you shop second-hand, you save money, cut waste and support good causes. This success shows what we can achieve together.
Find more ways you can reuse and recycle on our website and look out for future pop-up events.
The best part of Christmas? Leftovers!
For many of us, the tastiest meals happen after the big day.
Making the most of your festive food saves money and cuts waste, and it means you can enjoy those wonderful flavours for longer.
Here are some of our top tips to make it go further and reduce waste:
- Freeze any extras for quick, easy meals later
- Use bones and peelings for stock or pop them in your food waste bin
- Leftover sprouts? Try them in a stir fry or bubble and squeak
- Oil and fats should never go down the sink
Check out our website if you're wondering what can go in your food waste and what should be avoided!
